The Sun Is Not Your Friend

If you have lived long enough, you have not doubt seen the sun change from cherished friend to hostile threat. Of course the sun has not changed, but our understanding and attitudes have changed. Part of this change in thinking is all the knowledge we are now aware of. Sun damage can lead to skin cancer and other skin problems. This is simply a medical fact. The aging process also lends itself to a more accurate awareness of the power of the sun. People become more concerned about their wrinkles and age spots rather than the bronze glow often cherished in our youth. Another reason is that we are much better informed about the potential hazards of overexposure to the sun.

Growing up on the coast of Florida in the 1960’s and 1970’s, a time when people would describe themselves without embarrassment as sun worshipers, the sun was viewed as a friend at all times. In those days a sunburn was almost a status symbol indicating that a trip to the beach or something fun happened recently. Nowadays, allowing your child to become sunburned repeatedly is tantamount to neglect.

Now we know that a sunburn is a form of skin poisoning, and that repeated and prolonged exposure causes a variety of damage. A pattern of sunburning will increase your chance of developing skin cancer in later years. Also, prolonged exposure to the sun overtime will give your skin that leathery, weathered look that seems to work on a few Hollywood actors who specialize in westerns, but pretty much no one else.

If you live in the Sunshine State, one easy step you can take to offer a consistent layer of protection to your family is to have window tinting installed. Unlike sunscreen, window tinting does not have to be reapplied frequently. One procedure can offer a layer of defense between your family and the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays. Window tinting is available in your vehicles, home and office, and it offers many benefits in addition to protection. It will improve your comfort, curb appeal, energy costs, and atmosphere.

Solar Solutions Window Tinting is locally owned and operated by Brian Schauder, and we have served the Treasure Coast of Florida for over a decade. Focusing on one thing since 1994 has allowed us to become very good at what we do. We offer vehicle, commercial and residential window tinting in Vero Beach and Sebastian. We offer the highest quality work, paired with integrity and professionalism.
