Summer fun will soon begin! Kids (and teachers) are counting down the days until summer vacation. That small span of time between spring break and summer vacation somehow seems interminable, but it is, in fact, less than two short months! With spring break behind us, we are on that wonderful downhill slope to the approach of summer and all its fun.
In Florida, we have the distinct pleasure of living where many come to vacation. It is not something to be taken for granted. We have the ability year-round to enjoy all that our area has to offer. The wonderful thing about summer vacation is that we can enjoy those things every day, not just on the weekends!
Most anywhere in Florida is not TOO far from a beach. Those of you on this beautiful east coast living in Vero Beach, Sebastian, Melbourne, Palm Bay, Viera, Cocoa Beach, and the surrounding areas up and down our Treasure/Space Coasts, are a short drive or even a walk to the beautiful beaches of the Atlantic Ocean. We can leisurely stroll the beaches looking for shells to take home and put it in a bowl or basket as home decor. We can wade in the ocean and feel the water and wet sand between our toes. For those of you who love water sports, you can catch a wave surfing or boogie boarding. It is, indeed, a built-in afternoon of fun and relaxation just a short distance away from home.
Our east coast is also home to incredible waterways that offer sought after fishing. Many of you own boats and for those who don’t own one, you probably know someone who does. A day out on the water is fun and sun! You might even come home with fresh fish for dinner. If you like to fish, then there is no better dinner than a fish you caught yourself that very day.
Of course, Florida is known as the home of many famous amusement parks, such as the four different Disney World parks, Seaworld, and Legoland, to name just a few. We also have smaller local parks such as FunSpot and Andretti’s, along with a variety of waterslide parks. Most of these attractions are found in the center of the state and require a bit of a drive.
The advantage of living here is two-fold. First, our awesome state loves to reward its residents. We appreciate the tourists and know they help our economy, but Florida theme parks always offer great discounts to its residents to remind us that we are valued! Second, we can visit these fun places in the off-season. We don’t have to wait for the busy peak season to visit since we live here. If you are able, visit these places during the week and you will experience substantially smaller crowds.
