Should You Wait on Home Window Tinting?

As summer draws to a close, we look forward to cooler days, less sweating, and more time outdoors in the nice temperatures. We might not think that now is the time to consider tinting the windows in our homes.  After all, it’s going to get cooler outside.  Do we really need it to help keep our homes cooler?  Can’t we just wait until it starts to heat up again?

Heat and temperature regulation aren’t the only reasons to get your residential windows tinted.  Did you know that having your home’s windows professionally tinted can help your furniture and flooring last longer?  It’s true.  The sun’s ultraviolet rays aren’t just harmful to our skin, they are harmful to our furniture and flooring.  You might think that cooler weather means fewer ultraviolet rays, but they aren’t correlated to the heat you are feeling from the sun.  Even in cooler weather, those ultraviolet rays are powerful.  That’s why you see skiers and snowboarders with sunburns!

Most of us have a sofa or chair in front of at least one window in our living areas. Over time, our poor furniture takes a beating from those ultraviolet rays. And, sadly, our beautiful furniture begins to fade.  Even worse, it will fade worse where the sun hits it more directly.  So, you may end up with faded, blotchy-looking furniture.  And, what about your flooring?  Both carpet and hardwood flooring will fade from the sun. Have you ever gone house hunting, walked in, and seen dark rectangles on the carpet or hardwood flooring where the furniture used to be?  That’s because all the areas the sun hit became faded, and the areas in the dark under the furniture stayed their original color.

Furniture is not easily expendable. It’s not inexpensive and it’s often hard to find what we like. Once we have it, we don’t want to have to start the furniture shopping process all over again two or three years later because Mr. Sun didn’t play nice!  Flooring is even more expensive than furniture.  Faded carpet or hardwood floors aren’t very appealing.

Now that you are looking around your lovely living room with your perfect furniture and your nice flooring, you can see that now IS the best time to get your residential windows tinted.  Let us help keep the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays outside, so your home can stay looking new on the inside.  If you live in the Sebastian or Vero Beach areas, you need to reach out to Brian and the team at Solar Solutions.  Our many years of experience will allow us to help you pick the residential window tint that is best for you (as well as best for your furniture and flooring)!
