Time for Car Cleanup

So often we focus on our household chores whether it is inside doing cleaning and laundry or outside mowing the lawn and trimming the hedges that we forget to give our cars the attention that they need. It’s easy to overlook the cars because, after all, when friends or family come over for dinner, it’s the yard and house that you want to have in tip-top shape. They won’t be dining in your vehicle!

Like the house and yard, our vehicles require some attention too. After all, they can’t clean themselves. If this is a task that you loathe to do, it is a great task to pawn off on a local teen looking to make some extra cash, maybe even your own! Remember that it is not 1955, so if you hire a teen, please pay him or her fairly. If your car only requires a light cleaning and takes an hour or less, then ten dollars is probably plenty. After all, that’s higher than our minimum wage in Florida. But, if your car has become a dumping ground for fast food bags, junk mail, and the twenty thousand hair ties that you have lost, then please pay accordingly!

Both the inside and outside of cars require routine maintenance. If you decide to do it yourself, here are a few tips. On the inside, throw out all the trash! Your car interior is not a dumpster. Don’t forget to look under the seats too. Stuff has a way of falling between seats and rolling under them too. Go through the glove compartment. Throw out all old car registrations and old proof of insurance papers. You only need your most recent paperwork. And, for goodness sake, throw out old gum and mints. If you don’t remember when you bought them or even IF you were the one who purchased them, toss them!

Next, you need to actually clean the inside, not just declutter it. You may want to take it to a car wash for this portion, either a full service one or one where you pay to use the industrial vacuum and sprayer. Either way, make sure your floor mats are removed and cleaned. By removing them, it also exposes the floor underneath which needs to be vacuumed. Your dashboard and any other vinyl or leather will benefit from a product that “moisturizes” them, basically helping to offer a little protection from the heat.

The outside of your vehicle should be washed and occasionally waxed. There are also cleaners available for your tires. You would be surprised how new your tires can look! It really helps your car look brighter and cleaner when the tires and rims are shiny and clean. You may want to put a product on your windows that helps repel rain after you clean them. That is very handy in Florida! OR…

You can call us at Solar Solutions! We install the highest quality window tint and also are certified to apply Glassparency which is a water repellent for your windows. This is a coating that is professionally applied to your windows. It is not something you can buy over the counter or do yourself. Additionally, it does not have to be continuously re-applied like an over the counter product (i.e. RainX). We are in no way a car wash. We are a window tinting business, certified to apply Glassparency. We are located in Vero Beach and proudly serve Florida’s east coast up through Port St. Lucie, Melbourne, Palm Bay, and the surrounding areas. If you are interested in having your home, business, or car windows tinted or having Glassparency applied, then please give us a call today. We look forward to doing business with you soon.
